[Dec 7] Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Release Party

Hey everybody! With the event coming up so soon I'd like to make some clarifications about how the event will run and what we have planned for all of you!

Doors to the event will be opening up at 5:00 PM, we will have signs to point you in the right direction but it's also visible right outside the elevator. Don't worry about leaving your backpacks, we've found a way to keep all the Switches safe 

As you may have noticed we have two rooms for the event. Both rooms will feature 3 set ups (with a Gamecube controller adapter and TV monitor) with one room being dedicated to the crew battle tournament after 7:00 PM. We will be accepting sign ups for the tournament until that time, so remember to sign up with your team of 5 before then! The other room will be available for free play all night long. Also given that Switches are portable consoles, feel free to just take a seat and play Smash Ultimate with anyone else around you with the game's wireless multiplayer!

While we will try our best to unlock all the characters on our set ups, it is still possible that we may miss a few of them on some set ups.

We will also be ordering pizza and are expecting it to arrive around 8:00 PM. Hope to see you all there!

[Nov 23] UTAMA November General Meeting

Hello everybody! 

Hope everyone is doing alright and not suffering too much from assignments because UTAMA will be hosting its monthly general meeting on Friday November 23rd in Claude T. Bissell Room 313 once again! 

What's in store for this month's general meeting you may find yourself inquiring? Well have no fear because I am here to explain!

We will begin with some icebreakers to get everyone acquainted and into the mood for the general meeting. Hope you all know how to identify anime characters with only yes or no questions ;) Afterwards we will continue with the icebreakers and play some anime-themed two truths and a lie for you to know your groups better. Afterwards we will cut for a quick food break before ending the night with an anime-themed Snakes and Ladders!

Remember, the event will begin at 6:10 PM so don't be late! We'll also be opening the doors at 5:45 PM for anyone who wants to come in early and hang out.

As usual, membership will be required to attend our general meetings and we will be selling memberships at the door. For those who are just a tad bit curious, you can pay a $2 entrance fee just for the event. Reminder that you will not be added to our formal membership list and will not be eligible for club related discounts such as the annual $10 discount on Anime North we provide our paid members!

[Dec 1] UTAMA Movie and Dinner Outing

Hi guys!!
Hope you’ve been enjoying your reading week!

The next UTAMA outing we have planned for you guys will be a movie screening and a restaurant dinner. We are planning to go see the new Pokemon movie at Yonge-Dundas Cineplex on Saturday, December 1st. The showing will be at 3:30pm and you can purchase the tickets ahead of time at the website: https://www.cineplex.com/Movie/pokemon-the-movie-the-power-of-us#filter

Then afterwards, we will walk to Manpuku, which is at the OCAD food court, for dinner. If you can’t make it to both, it is completely okay to just come for the movie or for the dinner.

There is no fee to attend and all are welcome (even non-UTAMA members) but be minded that the tickets may sell out before the day of so it is strongly encouraged to purchase your ticket beforehand.

Also, Manpuku does not take any reservations so depending on how busy it is or how many people are attending, we may change the location. We will keep the event page updated if any changes occur.

[Nov 16] UTAMA's November Free Karaoke Night

UTAMA is back again to host another fun night of karaoke using the Joysound.tv app on the PS4! 

This event will once again take place in O.I.S.E. Room 5290 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Membership will not be required to attend so feel free to come out and sing some of your favourite songs from Joysound.tv's catalog such as Despacito, Lady Gaga and the occasional anime song.

UTAMA is back for the month of October and ready to host our second GM of the 2018-2019 school year! Come down to Claude T. Bissel Room 313 for another night of anime-based games designed by our executive team!

For this month's icebreaker event, we've got a anime-themed variation of karuta designed by our newly elected, esteemed Game Master Kelvin Wu! Following a quick break, we will then play 2 rounds of Anime Jeopardy and finish the night off with a cardboard Gundam building game!

We will also have refreshments for those attending the event, specifically pizza and some pop.
The event will begin at 6:10 PM sharp so do your best to not be late! Punctuality is a virtue after all~
For any early birds, doors will open around 5:45 PM for you to come hang around before the event starts.

[Oct 19] UTAMA Escape Room/Board Game Cafe Meetup

Hey guys!! (*´∇｀)ﾉ Hope everyone is doing okay during these first few weeks of school. Next Friday night, come and "escape" your midterms by hanging out with your fellow UTAMA execs and members~~ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)━☆ﾟ.*･｡ﾟ For our first social event of the year, we will be going to Riddle Room to play some board games and maybe even do an escape room. There is no entrance fee. All you have to do is purchase one food or drink item, and then you can play board games as long as you want! As for the escape rooms, it will be $25 per person. If enough people are interested, we will help you guys form a group! ( ´･ω･)人(・ω・｀ ) We highly encourage attending cause its the perfect opportunity to get to know new people as well the exec team! [Oct 12] UTAMA October Free Karaoke

UTAMA is back at it again with our monthly karaoke events using the Joysound.tv app off the PS4!

Swing by O.I.S.E. 5290 this upcoming Friday for another fun night of Taylor Swift songs. Oh and also some anime songs too I guess.

For anyone who has not come to our karaoke events and just wants to check it out don't worry, membership will not be required to attend this event. Based on attendance for this event however, you should not expect to sing multiple songs throughout the night. We wish to give everyone the chance to sing at least one song although, if you have to leave early though, feel free to just let us know and we'll bump you up on the queue.

The Autumn elections will soon descend to grace our association and will occur in Rotman School of Management Building Room L1010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The following individuals are the candidates to join the executive team for the upcoming school year:

Election results will be announced after the screening of the anime movie. For any candidates who will be unable to attend the event, send your speech to either our gmail or directly to Gilbert, who will read your speech aloud for you in your stead. [Apr 6] UTAMA Final 2017-2018 GM Featuring Elections and Family Feud!

Hey everyone! This is the final general meeting for the 2017-2018 year and we'll be hosting both our elections and a game of Family Feud! (⌒▽⌒)☆

Take a break right before exams start and help us elect our executive team for the 2018-2019 year.

We'll be in room 313 in the Claude T. Bissell building as usual and we will begin the event promptly at 6:10 PM so don't be late! Doors will be open at 5:45 PM for anyone who wants to come by early. Entrance will be free for members and cost $2 for non-members.

We'll start the event with speeches from our candidates and then begin the voting period. Afterwards, we'll progress into some rounds of Family Feud before cutting into our dinner break. (≧◡≦)

After the dinner break we will finish the event with some additional rounds of Family Feud. Family Feud was polled from members of our Facebook group, the UTSc Anime Club and r/anime. Can you predict the most popular responses to questions such as "A character who wouldn't just touch but even defeat Madara Uchiha?" and " The most useful anime abilities for acing an exam?". [Mar 30] UTAMA's end of year dinner outing

UTAMA will be having a dinner to celebrate the end of the year, before our final GM. This will be a very casual get-together. We'd love to meet you even if you've never come to one of our GM's before - there's a first time for everything!

Based on some options of pubs/restaurants that are open on Good Friday, we'd like you to vote on the ones you'd would prefer by next Saturday, March 24. We will be choosing the most popular option that is open at the time. If you know of another option that is also open, feel free to post on this Facebook page

[Mar 2] UTAMA's "February" GM + Election Info

On Friday F̶e̶b̶r̶u̶a̶r̶y̶ ̶3̶0̶ March 2, we'll be having our monthly GM from 6pm to 9pm Claude T. Bissel Building, BL 313.

Join us for a fun trivia activity in Connect Four, in which you'll be tasked to derive the common factor from between four images, as well as a spooky mystery game!

Additionally, we'll be giving preliminary information about our next election, occurring in the GM following this one, and on how you could apply to be a part of the UTAMA exec team.

[Jan 22] UTAMA Studio ★ Screening!
