[Aug 2] Kyoto Animation Fundraiser: Liz and the Bluebird Screening

In light of the recent tragedy that has befallen Kyoto Animation, this past week, UTAMA is holding a fundraiser special screening of one of their recent works, Liz and the Blue Bird, courtesy of Eleven Arts, on Friday, August 2, in Room 2117 of Sidney Smith Hall, from 3pm to 6pm.

Donations at the event are highly encouraged, but the screening itself is free for everyone. There will be a short introductory panel in the beginning, detailing a brief history of Kyoto Animation and their works (from 3pm-3:30pm), followed by the screening (3:30pm-5:30pm), and finishing off with a silent auction for some special KyoAni items (the auction will be held throughout the event, with the winners announced after the film). All proceeds from the donations and the auction will go towards the fundraising efforts for helping the staff and their families who were greatly affected by the fire.

More importantly, this event is meant to celebrate a studio that is one of the most hopeful, inspiring, and admirable, both in terms of their multitude of affecting works and their role in the industry as a positive beacon of change. As such, commemorating a work that, among many others, positively impacted countless lives, is important, profoundly so in these trying times.

Hope to see you guys there.
